Abstract This study was conducted to evaluate the drying shrinkage and basic creep strain of artificial lightweight aggregate concrete. In order to evaluate the creep characteristics of lightweight concrete using artificial lightweight aggregate, ten mixes were prepared with adjusted ratios to adjust the replacement ratio of fine aggregate. Dry shrinkage strain of lightweight concrete was higher with higher substitution rate of natural sand, and basic creep coefficient was higher than concrete design code by the Korean Concrete Institute (KCI-2012). To improve the KCI creep model, modified creep coefficient was proposed via regression analysis of fineness modulus of lightweight aggregate and density of concrete. The proposed model of creep coefficient model accurately predicts the creep behavior of lightweight concrete than does the KCI creep model.
