Abstract In this study, a set of slant shear tests was performed to evaluate the interfacial performance of normal strength concrete substrate strengthened with ultra-high performance fiber reinforced concrete (UHPFRC). Test parameters are roughness of interface, angle of interface, and curing condition of UHPFRC. Sand-blasting method was used for surface treatment. The test results showed that interface sliding failure occurred in all specimens with smooth interface. However, as degree of the interface angle decreased, transition of the failure mode from near interface concrete cracking to total concrete crushing distinctly occurred in case of the surface roughened specimens. The curing condition of UHPFRC did not significantly affect the interfacial performance of the composite members. Slant shear test results for UHPFRC-NSC composite members were collected and evaluated according to current design codes. The results show that interfacial shear strength of the specimens exceeds design strength given in the current design codes, provided that the interface is roughened by the sand-blasting method. For smooth interface, however, it is recommended that additional shear reinforcement be installed at the interface.
